Going (Fair Trade) Bananas

For 24 hours, from noon March 6th to noon March 7th, people all over the UK are going bananas in honor of Fair Trade. As part of Fairtrade Fortnight, the Fairtrade Foundation has launched the 'Go Bananas' campaign, set to be the world's biggest Fair Trade banana-eating record attempt. So far, over 300,000 people in the UK have signed up to be part of the event, pledging to eat a Fair Trade banana from noon to noon. The aim of the record breaking event is to raise awareness for Fair Trade and to boost sales of Fair Trade bananas and Fair Trade products in general. Events are taking place all day in towns all over the UK, including an event in London's Trafalgar Square.

UK'ers. There's still time to sign up for the event and be part of a world record to help spread the Fair Trade word. You'll also get your healthy dose of potassium, so what have you got to lose?
