Shop Fair Trade
Fair trade is an organized social movement and market-based model of international trade which promotes the payment of a fair price as well as social and environmental standards in areas related to the production of a wide variety of goods. The movement focuses in particular on exports from developing countries to developed countries, most notably handicrafts, coffee, cocoa, tea, bananas, honey, cotton, wine, fresh fruit, and so on.
You can find ways to shop for fair trade items through a number of online resources.
Fairtrade certification is a product certification system designed to allow people to identify products which meet agreed environmental, labour and developmental standards. Member websites that list where to buy Fairtrade or Fair Trade Certified™ products include companies in Australia and New Zealand, Canada, France, Ireland, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom and U.S.A.
The Network of European Worldshops (NEWS!) offers links to national associations containing information about the locations of their Worldshops.
The Fair Trade Federation offers lists of Canadian and U.S. Retail Stores, Wholesalers, Mail Order Catalogs, Online Shopping and Producers.
This is an ongoing pledge that should be fulfilled as often as possible.

Did you know there were a million signatures gathered against NAFTA and it still passed. I was at the Seattle protest against WTO (World Trade Organization) in November 1999 with 100,000 other protesters.. There were riots, tear gassing, looting, TOTAL ANARCHY. It was the most beautiful thing I ever participated in. Sometimes you just have to stand up to big business, NAFTA, World Bank, etc. it still didn't stop anything. At least this administration is FINALLY listening. We need fair trade. Does it help us to have things made by fifty cent an hour workers when we have no jobs to buy anything?

I shop fair trade as often as possible and urge the company I work for to investigate fair trade options (which they are probably sick of hearing by now but I don't much care about that). :)

This has been ingrained in my lifestyle for a long time. It is heartening to see the fair trade movement spreading the wealth as it should be.
We all benefit when we all benefit.

Fair Trade...the responsibility of citizens of those countries who have not suffered from multiple wars, changes of power, poor or corrupt government, poverty, and/or natural disasters towards those who have. Citizens of well-to-do countries are lucky to have as rights (federal welfare programs, public education, unemployment benefits) what people on the receiving end of Fair Trade consider privileges they may never have.
You are born a citizen, not of a single country, but of the world. Fulfill your responsibilities towards humanity. Invest in Fair Trade.
